TNW-Theology and science

Theology and science

The Theology and Science group concentrates mainly on the topic areas of humanity, nature and religion. The topic of humanity raises the structures of the formation and the reproduction of personhood through self-relations of the lived body (Leib) and in the interaction between persons and their natural and cultural environment. The topic of nature focuses on cultural genesis and the normative content of life-world and scientific views of nature. The topic of religion deals with the tension between scientific and religious explanations of the reality of human lives and the way this tension influences the dynamic of cultural and social change.
Furthermore, the group works on projects relating to all three topic areas. Recent examples have been the conference “Can self-realization be institutionalized?“ as well as anthologies on the principle of competition and on Karl Jaspers.
